University of Toronto
The University of Toronto is Canada's leading university and one of the top teaching and research universities in the world. The generosity of our supporters helps us provide unlimited learning opportunities, a world class faculty and ideas that shape the world.
As a professor of education who trains tomorrow’s teachers, I feel quite strongly that they need to represent the diverse communities they will serve. My teaching reflects my commitment—focusing on culturally responsive leadership and pedagogy, critical analysis of multiculturalism, and effective mentoring strategies for diversity and equity.
A couple of years ago, I met with the Provost to discuss ways to increase the representation of Black and Indigenous students at U of T. To deliver on our ideas, such as strengthening outreach to prospective students before they enter grades 11 and 12, I was appointed the Provostial Advisor on Access Programs.
I want to do my part to help create a more equitable society, and broadening access to U of T is a great way to start. I appreciate that U of T supports my ideas and gives me a platform where my voice can be heard.
I am grateful to donors like you, who make it possible for students from all walks of life to have access to the resources, knowledge, and opportunities they need to build a better tomorrow for themselves and their communities.
