Faculty of Arts & Science

The Faculty of Arts & Science has launched a $325 million campaign as part of Boundless: The Campaign for the University of Toronto. Every donation to Arts & Science contributes to realizing this landmark fundraising goal. Read more.

In my previous career as an architect, I helped design and build houses, schools and affordable housing. I also helped with post-disaster reconstruction in Haiti and taught at the University of The Gambia in West Africa.

Fuelled by my desire to do more to contribute to city building, I decided to go back to school and get my Master of Science in Planning. Through my master’s research project, I studied how the United Church of Canada is collaborating with property developers to find new uses for older buildings and surplus land, and the opportunities and barriers to preserving social services and community space. I hope my research can inform future urban redevelopment projects, and help shape the continuing evolution of Toronto and other cities around the world.

I am so grateful for this opportunity. Thanks to donors like you, I received financial support through two scholarships, and benefitted from quality instruction, challenging discussion, critical debates and incredible support from the faculty.

On behalf of my fellow students at the Faculty of Arts & Science, thank you for giving us the support we need to build a better tomorrow.
