The Louis R. Charpentier Leadership Forum
The Louis R. Charpentier Leadership Forum has been established in honour of Louis’ thirty-six years of service to the University of Toronto, most notably as Secretary of the Governing Council from 1999 – 2015.
This fund will allow the establishment of a visiting lectureship, which is intended to become a hallmark component of the Rose Patten Leadership Program. The Rose Patten Leadership Program is a staff mentorship program for University of Toronto employees whereby mentees gain exposure to new ideas; broaden their network of people; enlist professional support and encouragement from the mentor; enhance personal effectiveness through informal feedback; improve their understanding of how the University works; gain new skills and the opportunity to practice them in a structured setting; and, solidify career goals.
Louis has been a steadfast participant in the Rose Patten Leadership Program as a mentor and volunteer since its inception in 2007. The program was named in honour of Rose Patten’s contributions as Chair of Governing Council from 2004-2007. Louis served as Secretary of the Governing Council during Ms. Patten’s term, and subsequently collaborated with her on the Task Force on Governance. The Louis R. Charpentier Leadership Forum in the Rose Patten Leadership Program is thus a fitting tribute to Louis’ exceptional leadership and outstanding service to the University of Toronto.
