John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design
The John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design (Daniels) offers the only program in Canada where design can be studied in an integrated and collaborative way from the undergraduate through to the graduate level.
Last fall, I had the opportunity to participate in Assistant Professor Fadi Masoud’s studio on climate change and its impact on coastal communities.
Thanks to donors like you, I was given the opportunity to travel to different sites in southern Florida to conduct research. I got a first-hand look at the region’s system of levees and canals and learned about issues such as rising tides and precipitation.
I really appreciated the interdisciplinary nature of the studio, which is reflective of the Daniels Faculty in general. As students we benefit greatly from the integration of architecture, landscape architecture and urban design. The ideas we developed together for the future of communities in southern Florida were achieved through our shared commitment to design, enquiry and engagement—the building blocks that will help us build a better tomorrow.
This past summer, I was able to pursue another research opportunity, after receiving the Paul Oberman Graduate Student Endowment Award. I travelled to cities across North America to study the development of urban industrial districts. I am so grateful to donors like you for making such exceptional learning experiences possible.
