Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE)
William G. Davis Golden Anniversary Leadership Scholarship
Supporting Next Generation Change-makersOISE recently and proudly celebrated its 50th anniversary. This milestone event would not have been complete without honouring OISE's founder, William G. Davis. We are writing to gain your support for creating the William G. Davis Golden Anniversary Leadership Scholarship.
As Ontario's Minister of Education in the 1960s, Mr. Davis believed that education was the fundamental lever for a better future. In addition to his founding of Ontario's colleges and educational broadcaster TVO, he envisioned a centre or institution for innovation and research in education, OISE became that institution. Now, more than 50 years later, OISE has exceeded even his expectations by graduating more educational leaders than any other institution in Canada while helping to transform education in Ontario, Canada and around the world.
Recently, Mr. Davis was asked about his expectations for OISE. Have a look: https://youtu.be/PmZKPBrRB4s.
To honour the person whose vision changed the course of education in Ontario and beyond, we have created the William G. Davis Golden Anniversary Leadership Scholarship to support promising graduate student educational leaders who will be the next generation's change-makers.
We aim to establish a $200,000 endowment for this award. As one of our esteemed colleagues in education, we are asking you to consider a charitable donation (either a one-time only or pledge over three to five years). Each of us has pledged $10k to get things rolling. Mayor John Tory has also reinforced the importance of this effort with his personal support.
Donations of $500 or more will receive a signed copy of Steve Paikin’s signed biography of Mr. Davis, Bill Davis: Nation Builder, and Not So Bland After All.
Many thanks for your consideration,
Charles E. Pascal
