Transitional Year Programme
The Transitional Year Programme (TYP) is a university access program for students with high academic potential who have not completed high school and who lack the formal background, skills and confidence to qualify for university admission. TYP actively encourages applications from members of Toronto’s diverse communities, particularly those where access to higher education has traditionally been limited. Applications are received from African Canadian/Black, Native-Canadian, and LGBTQ communities as well as from sole-support parents, persons with disabilities, and students from working-class backgrounds of all ethnicities. The program provides an intensive eight-month full-time course of study leading to entrance to a university Arts & Science degree-granting program. TYP currently accepts approximately 60 students a year, providing them with the academic and financial support and encouragement necessary to succeed at University.
