Faculty of Law
Class of 1994 Bursary
In the 25 years since we graduated (it doesn’t feel like that long ago!) U of T Law continues to provide a world-class education, and still is the top-ranked law school in the country and one of the best in the world.
However, the Faculty has faced enormous economic pressures ̶ per-student government subsidy has been flat since the mid-1990s and the recent post-secondary tuition cuts.
We are all aware that the cost to attend U of T Law has steadily increased since we graduated. The tuition increase has ensured that the Faculty continues to be able to offer the highest quality legal education, including one that provides unique and important co-curricular programs and services to enhance the student experience.
In our reunion year, we wanted to make a meaningful impact on the place that set us on a path to have successful careers. To this end, and to align with Dean Ed Iacobucci’s current student financial aid priority, we have established a Class of 1994 Bursary Fund to enable the most deserving and qualified students to attend U of T Law, regardless of their financial background. This endowed bursary will be distributed to JD students with demonstrated financial need and is matched in perpetuity by the University of Toronto’s Boundless Promise Matching Program, thereby doubling the impact of the income generated by the bursary.
To date, we have raised over $260,000, with classmates choosing to either directly support the ’94 bursary, establish their own bursary, or support other co-curricular programs at the Faculty. We would greatly appreciate if you would consider participating. Your support will help in continuing to attract the best and brightest students to U of T Law, and allow them receive the same world-class education that we did.
If you have any questions or would like to talk with someone directly, please follow-up with one of us or contact Matt Willis at the Faculty of Law. His contact information is 416-978-1353 / firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks again for considering a gift to your law school.
