Faculty of Arts & Science
Department of Anthropology
The Department of Anthropology has an impressive tradition of teaching and research excellence in the main streams of anthropology and archaeology. Our faculty, who rank among the world's most distinguished anthropologists, and their students travel to all corners of Canada and across the globe to conduct groundbreaking research on human ancestors, present and past human societies, cultural knowledge and practice, human health and nutrition. A new undergraduate learning centre gives first-year students hands-on experience examining artifacts and historical objects. We offer graduate training in socio-cultural, linguistic, medical, biological and archaeological branches of the field with an emphasis, at the doctoral level, on empirical research and long-term fieldwork. Your gift will continue this proud tradition by supporting a new generation of anthropologists and archaeologists who will seek to answer some of humanity's most pressing questions.
